UNFORTUNATE LYRICS

some songs distract me, and that's a problem when i'm leading them and it's an important moment. then i hear the lyrics a different way, and i can't get it out of my head. some personal confessions:

"You came from heaven to earth to show the way
From the earth to the cross my dead toupee..."

"it is swell with my soul
it is swell, it is swell with my soul."
(then i think, "most people would say, "it's good," but that sure wouldn't sound right)

"God bless America land that I love
stand beside her and guide her through the night with the light from a bulb"

then i have all kinds of problems with "At Calvary" (or is it "At Cavalry?")
"Mercy there was great and grace was free
Farm livin' is the life for me" . . . (no, wait, that's the theme song from "Green Acres!" Stop it!)
Oh, yeah, the second line goes:
"pardon there was multiplied" . . . is it "to me" or "for me"? i think it's "to me." but i just said "multiplied," and two times two is "four me." well, now it's too late. i just sang one word or the other, and now i've completely lost my concentration on the rest of the refrain....

...and so i curse you, my fellow worshiper, with my inner rhythm.
